Planting Daffodils

After getting everything we needed together we planted our bulbs in our very own blue tub garden. We had to make sure there was space between each bulb as we put them in the potting mix and the roots - which are the dangly bits, had to be put down in the dirt first. This is so the daffodil can grow up to the sun. We had to hold our noses because the potting mix smelt bad. Then we covered the bulbs with the potting mix and watered them. Now we are waiting for our bulbs to grow.

Growing Daffodils

As part of an Inquiry unit on Change we have been learning to grow daffodils. We investigated what was required to grow daffodils and we found out that potting mix was better to use than dirt because it contained more plant food than plain dirt. We planted 40 bulbs in a big blue tub outside the classroom so we could watch them grow. We hope our daffodils are going to look a little like these.
